This painting was inspired by an old black and white photo from the 1940's. The dresses are created using embedded paper. I layered the paper onto the canvas & painted over it to create the folds and highlights. The Geisha's Faces and hands are painted using an absorbent ground which gives them a transparent watercolor effect.

The background is multiple layers of paint, mediums and glazes. The copper glazing changes colors in the light. Embedded in the background are actual Ginko Leaves, Ash leaves and a Dragonfly.
