ART: My paintings are a reflection of the impact that the natural world has on me. I am inspired by color and texture. I let the nature of the medium dictate the overall look of the piece. With watercolors, I let the paint flow and raise across the page... Acrylics are funky and fun... Oils bring out the traditional, earthy qualities of the pigments.

LIFE: I was rasied in a rural area & was always surrounded by cats, dogs, horses and wilderness. I can not remember a time when I was not drawing or painting. I was a very serious art student from grade school all through college. I studied art under some very incredible teachers who still inspire me today.

In 2004, I moved to Chicago to pursue big city life. I found a wonderful art community & pet community in the city. I have become active in raising awareness of pet related issues and help promote the work of the no-kill shelters and rescue groups in the area by donating paintings and focusing on animals in need. Many of the pet themed portraits are of local shelter animals. When I sell an original painting of a shelter critter, I pass along the pet's biography & hopefully my client will be inspired to check out the actual pup or kitty for adoption. Hopefully, I can make a small difference in the world!
